These delightful plants offer fragrant foliage and charming blooms, adding a sensory experience to your indoor garden.

Why will I love it?

Scented Geraniums (Pelargonium graveolens and other Pelargonium species) are a treat for the senses with their aromatic leaves and pretty flowers. Available in a variety of scents, including rose, lemon, mint, and even chocolate, these plants are perfect for those who appreciate a fragrant touch in their home.

Light or shade?

Scented Geraniums thrive in bright, indirect light but can also handle some direct sunlight. For lush growth and to enhance their fragrance, place them in a spot where they can enjoy about 4 to 6 hours of sunlight each day. A bright east or west-facing window is ideal.

Where should I put it?

With their attractive foliage and pleasant scent, scented geraniums are perfect for windowsills, sunny countertops, or as a decorative accent in a living room or kitchen. Their lush leaves add texture and interest to any space. During the summer, they can also flourish on a sunny balcony or patio.

How do I keep it alive?

Scented Geraniums prefer well-draining soil, such as a cactus mix or a blend with added sand or perlite. Water them when the top inch of soil feels dry, being careful not to overwater. These plants thrive in temperatures between 15-21°C (59-70°F) and prefer low to moderate humidity. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer to encourage healthy growth and blooming.

Did you know?

Native to South Africa, scented geraniums have been popular since Victorian times, often used in potpourri and perfumes due to their delightful fragrances. While their leaves are generally safe to touch, it’s best to keep them out of reach of pets who might be tempted to taste them.

With their aromatic leaves and charming presence, scented geraniums bring a unique sensory experience to your indoor garden, making them a wonderful choice for this week’s houseplant spotlight. Enjoy the delightful scents they offer!
